Why I Travel

The New York Times posted a photo slideshow of various exotic travel locations and supplemented the shots with readers’ vignettes of favorite travel memories. This, of course, prompted me to think about my own travel memories.

It is cliche to state that I travel to learn more about myself, but I can’t think of a better way to express it (without using another cliched quote). It’s only when I am placed in a foreign environment that I unearth another layer about my psyche. And the unfamiliarity of the locale is proportional to level of the self-discovery too.

Once I am fully unfettered from the corporate life of bureaucracy and monkey games, I plan to broaden my international playground. This is where I want to go. For now, below are my favorite personal photographs of  where I have been.

Hi there, some amazing shots you got there. All yours? Love the angles on some of those. Especially the peeping old timer skyscrapers in Central Park, the inviting watering hole in Austin, and the Duck!
    ciao, dian

PS: those crabs look frightening! Cool shot. Thought it was a croc or sea monster, at first.

  2. Thank you! Yes I took all the shots and they were a lot of fun. I’m glad you liked them. And yeah the horseshoe crabs look scary in that shot but looked pretty neat up close.

  3. Gorgeous pics Cathy!! # 3,14,24 are my favs!

  4. Thanks Sej! Those pics of my son are my faves too.
